This is a plan that describes how Ambrose Elementary will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. Ambrose Elementary values the contributions and involvement of parents to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes the different ways that Ambrose Elementary will support parent engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home. How is it revised? Ambrose Elementary School establishes a Parent Advisory Committee to help provide suggestions/recommendations and advisement on all matters related to parental involvement. The school involves parents in an organized ongoing and timely way in the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I Program through parent advisory councils, school governing council, and surveys. Parent involvement policies and programs may be revised based upon assessment information and input received. All parents are invited to attend an annual meeting to inform them of their school’s Title 1 participation, explain Title 1, and its requirements and parents’ right to be involved in the process. Who is it for? All students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, are encouraged and invited to fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan. Ambrose Elementary will provide full opportunity for the participation of parents with limited English, parents with disabilities and parents of migratory children. Where is it available? At the beginning of the year, the plan is posted on the school website and Facebook. In addition, copies of the plan are assessable through Facebook and/or Kinvo. Parents can also retrieve a copy of the plan in the front office. Reservation of Funds? Ambrose Elementary School will reserve 1 percent from the total amount of the Title 1 funds it receives in FY25 to carry out the parent and family engagement requirements listed in this policy and as described in Section 1116 of the ESSA. Title 1 Input will be gathered in the Spring of 2025. Furthermore, AES will distribute 90 percent of the amount reserved to Title 1 schools to support their local-level family engagement programs and activities. The district will provide clear guidance and communication to assist each Title 1 school in developing an adequate family engagement budget that addresses their needs assessment and parent recommendations. What is Title 1? Ambrose Elementary is identified as a Title 1 school as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title 1 is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to the challenging state academic standards to improve teaching and learning for students. Title 1 programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support family engagement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with all parents and family members a written parent and family engagement policy. Revised 7/2/2024 2024-2025 District Goals 1.) During the 2024-2025 school year, Coffee County Schools will increase the percentage of students scoring at or above the Developing Level on all English/Language Arts End of Grade and End of Course Assessments by 3%. 2. ) During the 2024-2025 school year, Coffee County Schools will increase the percentage of students scoring at or above the Developing Level on all Mathematics End of Grade and End of Course Assessments by 3%. 2024-2025 School Goals 1.) During the 2024-2025 school year, Ambrose Elementary will implement consistent state standards and best practices to close the learning gap among students. 2.) During the 2024-2025 school year, Ambrose Elementary School will increase the percentage of students scoring at the developing level, or above, in English Language Arts on the Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) Assessment. 3.) During the 2024-2025 school year, Ambrose Elementary School will increase the percentage of students scoring at the developing level, or above, in Mathematics on the Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) Assessment. 4.) Study Skills Night August 20, 2024 @ 6 pm We invite you to join us in the gym as we review and discuss expectations at Ambrose. Parents will also learn about homework and study skills specific to your child’s grade level. Parent-Teacher Conferences September 10, 2024 & February 4, 2025 Meet with your child’s teacher to view and discuss progress reports. First Responders Day October 25, 2024 Students will learn about the occupations of our first responders and participate in activities. Veterans Day Program November 11, 2024 We invite you to our annual Veterans Program. Writing Celebration December 5, 2024 Parents and students will have fun as we share our letters to Santa and explore the importance of writing. Read Across America Day March 7, 2025 Read/do activities with your child’s class. Connect with the school and community to build better school and review school plans. Farm Day March 28, 2025 Students will participate in farm day activities. End of Year Honor Programs May 2025 Each grade level will have an Honors Program. School-Parent Compacts Ambrose Elementary and our families developed a schoolparent compact. A school-parent compact is an agreement that parents, teachers, and students develop explaining how parents and teachers will work together to ensure all our students reach and exceed grade level standards. The compacts are reviewed and updated annually based on feedback from parents, students, and teachers during spring revision meetings. Ambrose will use these compacts throughout the year as an agreement to work as a team and strive for excellence in the education Ambrose Elementary will host the following events to build the capacity for strong parental involvement to support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement. Events to Come Parent Resource Center Sign up to check-out extra materials to further your child’s education. You are able to sign up for extra materials on the initial sign in sheet at Open House. You will then return them to school and we can check out additional resources. Parent and Family Engagement Ambrose Elementary will provide support for parental involvement activities and actions that will strengthen student academic achievement by holding the following grade level and content specific parent workshops in addition to school wide activities. Ensuring that: • Parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s social, emotional, and academic growth and development. • Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school. • Parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child. We will: Ensure all information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities is published in both English and Spanish. Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s class or school and observe classroom activities. Provide assistance to parents in understanding the academic content and assessments, as well as how to monitor their child’s progress and work with educators. Student progress-reports and report cards are distributed on scheduled intervals, keeping parents aware of student’s progress. Two scheduled parent/teacher conferences are held in the fall and spring of each year. Provide materials and training to help parents work with their child to improve their child’s achievement. Educate teachers, pupil services personnel, the principal and other staff, with the assistance of parents, in the value and utility of contributions of parents and how to reach out and communicate with parents to implement and coordinate parent programs. Coordinate and integrate parent involvement programs and activities with Head Start, public and private preschools and other programs, and provide resources such as a parent resource center that encourages and supports parents in more fully participating in the education of their children. Develop appropriate roles for community-based organizations and local businesses in parental involvement activities. Collect feedback from parents and family members at all events, by placing input cards around the building for parents to make requests for additional support for parent and family engagement activities. We would love to encourage you to also take an active role and be a member of our school Building School Staff Capacity We will provide professional learning sessions, in addition to sharing articles/videos with teachers, in how to reach out to, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners. We will also try to help teachers understand the value and importance of parents’ contributions. It is our goal to provide opportunities for teachers to build ties between home and school. We will provide teachers with resources so that all communication can be translated into a language the parents can understand.
